Interested students complete and submit the application form provided on the GIRE Virtual RA Internship Program webpage. The application form includes sections to provide their educational background, extracurricular experiences, transcript, individual research and data analysis portfolio (optional), and a short statement of purpose. These documents and information will help evaluate the candidate's qualifications and fit for the internship program.
The selection committee carefully reviews the submitted applications, considering the educational background, extracurricular experiences, transcript, individual research and data analysis portfolio, and the statement of purpose. The review process aims to assess the candidate's academic achievements, research skills, and passion for research.
Shortlisted candidates are invited for an interview. The interview may be conducted either in person, via video conference, or through a phone call. During the interview, candidates have the opportunity to discuss their background, experiences, research interests, and goals with the selection committee. This helps in assessing their communication skills, enthusiasm for research, and potential for collaboration with faculty members.
Based on the application review and interview performance, selected candidates are matched with a distinguished faculty member whose research aligns with their interests and skills. The matching process aims to ensure a mutually beneficial collaboration between the intern and the faculty member, maximizing the learning and research experience for both parties.
